Mountain Biking the Bay Area is a 4 x 9" portable comprehensive guide to riding in our area. For someone new to the sport or our
area this would be an excellent resource to get started. For the veteran this guide can serve as a handy reference for inspiring rides.
The 15 shade relief 200 ft contour interval maps tri-fold out and feature "ground cover" coloring, and legal trails which are rated with
the alpine ski style symbols of green circles, blue squares and black diamonds. The maps cover most of the Bay Area riding areas
with the notable exception of Rockville.
The guide manages to cram a lot of information into this small format. Suggested ride loops, photos, and profiles for each map provide
potentially enticing itineraries for the first time visitor.

This guidebook takes a different approach from the Krebs map series in that it is bound in a book form and limits map coverage to
riding areas.

For the cyclist who knows these trails systems, or prefers to discover their own loops, a BikeMapDude edition of his maps without the guide verbiage would be excellent. Individual maps are for sale at bike shops, but also contain the guide information.

In all BikeMapDude has created some wonderful maps. If you want to do some summer map reading this might be it.
