Briones Open Space Featured Rides

Directions to trailhead(s):
Briones Regional Park is located in the open space between Lafayette, Pleasant Hill and Orinda. The main parking area is off of Bear Creek Road. From Hwy. 24 take the Orinda exit, follow Camino Pablo north for 2 miles, and turn right on Bear Creek Rd. The main entrance to Briones is 4.5 miles down Bear Creek on the right. Additional entrances are off of Alhambra Valley Road and Reliez Valley Road near Pleasant Hill.

Aerobic: Strong Intermediate
Technical: Intermediate

Start at Bear Creek Parking, head up the paved road and through
the gate.
0.2 miles stay right on Homestead Valley Trail
1.7 miles left on Briones Crest Trail. Briones Crest rolls steeply
at times across the park, passing numerous intersections.
4.2 miles at bottom of descent, Old Briones Road comes in from left.
Take a right and then a quick left to stay on Briones Crest Trail.
5.5 miles left on Abrigo Valley Trail
7.4 miles Finish

Technical: Intermediate

Start at the Alhambra Creek Staging Area off Reliez Valley Road in Pleasant Hill. Ride uphill on the Alhambra Creek Trail.
0.9 miles right on Spengler Trail
1.6 miles left on Old Briones Road
2.5 miles left on Valley Trail
3.4 miles right on Briones Crest Trail
3.9 miles left, then quick right onto Spengler Trail. Spengler includes some extremely steep downhills. Use extra caution.
5.6 miles stay right on Spengler
6.4 miles stay left
6.7 miles stay left
7.1 miles stay left
7.4 miles right on Alhambra Creek Trail
8.3 miles Finish
